Quote

Every day the computer becomes increasingly smarter, it already knows your name, address, and credit card number, knowing where Aunt Mabel lives and having watched you write a letter to her before, the computer can send a fair approximation of a kindly email to her from you, just click an button and the deed could be done finished, but that price of not having to think is trust.

Learning how to swim is one example, with this come’s the enjoyment learning that you can advance, to the next level.

The goal of LEAN BACK is to achieve relaxation as the desired state, upon which audio and video can gradually invade, but not with intent to intrude. We can only truly relax when we trust that were in the finest hands and are treated with the best intentions.

Thus commitment is rendered meaningless when for every action; there is a corresponding un-action.

Learn to undo the trust when not deserved

Your mailing list would have to be accurate with name and addresses up to date, you may compose a letter whether business or personal that could go to many, which then the computer would deal with, but if it was a sensitive matter business or personal, it would be better to compose a letter for that subjects intent.

For not all can be trusted to the computer, some need individual attention, in water you need to trust that you can float, and that there is a person near you that if you go under knows how to swim, more so if you are a beginner LEAN BACK AND FLOAT, children have this trust for they are experiencing the world for the first time, so in love they trust.

Some lean back’s have a price attached only some are free, if you were in a restaurant the chef cooks but the meal is not free but you lean back let some one else do the cooking so there is a price attached to the meal.

That which is free may be looking at the sun set or feeling the wind on your face standing on top of a hill, looking at a view over the ocean, these lean backs are free.

Computer program’s that may help you have it easier with compiling your subject are not free some have a limited free trial but in the end you need to decide to buy or not, to rely on the spelling correction in a computer depends if you are Australian or American spelling, if you keep trusting the computer with out checking you could end up with a letter that is not readable, look before you hit the change button.

QUESTIONNAIRE

1. Provide an example of a situation where you have to have trust – in the same vein as the author in his swimming lesson example. What made you trust in this situation and how did you feel?

Answer

Government in all departments that they are doing the best for a community, some times I think their got a method in their madness, it’s the same as walking across the street in heavy traffic, pray that a car does not hit you.

2. Where in our exhibition do we need to instill trust? Give examples. How are we going to achieve this?

Answer

With each other we trust, that each are doing what they are suppose to do, with back up if there is a failing e.g. accident, sickness. With exhibition make people welcomed with hospitality, offering nibbles and drinks with location map to see exhibitions.

3. What strategies are used to instill trust? Examples? Where do we need to employ this in Ten Squared? How are we going to do this?

Answer

To enjoy what you are learning to relax, chill out have some fun, reliability, communication.

4. If you could “undo” any aspect of the preparation for the exhibition to-date, what would you “undo”? With this in mind, what would you change now in your preparation strategy to overcome having to “undo” anything?

Answer

If undoing be careful what you undo that it is the correct thread to pull, for if the wrong one all would unravel, like a string of wool in a jumper, in the exhibition time line should have started earlier, sponsors should have been contacted last year, fund raising should be done for the next year.

5. Homework: How are you using the laws in relation to your contribution to the up here exhibition? Provide a short explanation and example for each of the laws so far.

Answer

Using what is already available and extending on it

EMOTION THE 7TH LAW

MORE EMOTIONS ARE BETTER THAN LESS

Animation from http://www.animationlibrary.com/animation/23674/Alligator_3/

Quote

Can simplicity be considered ugly?

Neon flowers, bejeweled frogs, other decorative essentials that are bling are these simplicity/

Rational perspective simplicity makes economic sense; simple objects are easier and less expensive to produce?

Cost effective for the consumer with low prices, a simple line of furniture cost effect benefits the frugal shopper.

But many decision are not made with logic, some like the bling factor, for a strong sense of self-expression in all humans.

THE SEVENTH LAW is not for every one, there are those who only want black or white with clear-mirrored surfaces

But for those who have emotion the 7th Law applies, which seems to contradict the first Law of Reduce, where in principle to determine the right kind of more or feel, and feel to look at your own feelings. And connect with emotional intelligence inside yourself, then the environment that surrounds use for, Form follows function, feeling follows form, then the move towards complexity and away from simplicity that sometimes is required.

Self-expression need to balance with a sense of human warmth while the object retains its pure, simple and cool nakedness, its clothing can keep it warm, e.g. a cover for a mobile phone, can be personalized,

Comment

Why you may ask – because of the human need to better express emotion- to capture the essence of communication, this may come in different forms, the cartoon character in animation does not pose a threat, one may look at it and be amused, so interfacing through animation or character form soften textual conversations with out the facial cues speaking though text dominates.

The Muppet which are a puppet character first was studied in the fifties found that children were not frighten of such figures, so puppets like Noddy, Big-ears, Miss Piggy, Kermit, Elmo and the Cookie Monster came a-bought

With clothing the object, who can remember their grandmother putting a teacozy on the teapot, or a cover on the hot water bottle, a doily on the radio, these days we have gone to carry accessories to protect the IPOD, Portable Computer, which express our feelings for our objects

Quote

The belief in the spirit living within all objects / or sense of attachment one can feel for an artifact and acknowledging the existence/ helps the designer to make artifacts that people will feel for, care for, and own for a lifetime.

RETURN ON EMOTION

A certain kind of more is always better than less more care, more love, and more meaningful actions

SIX THINKING HATS

http://www.mindtools.com/pages/article/newTED_07.htm

animation from http://www.animationlibrary.com/sc/155/Hats_and_Wigs/?page=1

Quote

Key Points:

Six Thinking Hats is a good technique for looking at the effects of a decision from a number of different points of view.

It allows necessary emotion and skepticism to be brought into what would otherwise be purely rational decisions. It opens up the opportunity for creativity within Decision Making. The technique also helps, for example, persistently pessimistic people to be positive and creative.

Plans developed using the '6 Thinking Hats' technique will be sounder and more resilient than would otherwise be the case. It may also help you to avoid public relations mistakes, and spot good reasons not to follow a course of action before you have committed to it.

Hat White = they analyze the data they have. They examine the trend in vacant office space, which shows a sharp reduction. They anticipate that by the time the office block would be completed, that there would be a severe shortage of office space. Current government projections show steady economic growth for at least the construction period.

Answer - strategies, off time effectiveness, what would be needed to save cost with appropriate planning, on information and data.

Hat Red = thinking, some of the directors think the proposed building looks quite

ugly, while it would be highly cost-effective, they worry that people would not like to work in it.

Answer – Promotional, interior design applications, personal experience

Hat Black = they worry that government projections may be wrong. The economy may be about to enter a 'cyclical downturn', in which case the office building may be empty for a long time. If the building is not attractive, then companies will choose to work in another better-looking building at the same rent.

Answer – Advertising, communication, planning why it would not work

Hat Yellow = however, if the economy holds up and their projections are correct, the company stands to make a great deal of money. If they are lucky, maybe they could sell the building before the next downturn, or rent to tenants on long-term leases that will last through any recession.

Answer – Long-term perspective in optimistic options,

Hat Green = thinking they consider whether they should change the design to make the building more pleasant. Perhaps they could build prestige offices that people would want to rent in any economic climate. Alternatively, maybe they should invest the money in the short term to buy up property at a low cost when a recession comes.

Answer – To seek a pattern in the presented ideas

Hat Blue = has been used by the meeting's Chair to move between the different thinking styles. He or she may have needed to keep other members of the team from switching styles, or from criticizing other peoples' points.

Answer – This is where the main objectivity is to ensure the overall agenda is maintained and to stay FOCUSED and what needs to be done

Questionnaire

1/ What does the word ENTROPY mean and why is this relevant?

Answer - Quote from Dictionary =

• Figurative lack of order or predictability; gradual decline into disorder: a marketplace where entropy reigns supreme.

•(In information theory) - a logarithmic measure of the rate of transfer, of information, in a particular message or language.

2/ If you are attuned to everything around you, does it help you deal with what is in front of you and why or why not?

Answer – yes - quote from the book of THE LAWS OF SIMPLICITY

chapter 6 Synthesizing the ambient experience of simplicity requires attention to everything that seemingly does not matter, for the ambient environment can be felt and heard Unquote

3/ How is this different from FOCUS?

Answer - For you are only paying attention to the ambient environment so that you can focus on that, which matters,

4/ Being “comfortably lost” is a balance between what 2 feelings?

Answer – completely lost in the unknown or completely found in the familiar,

5/ Describe a recent scenario when you found yourself to be “comfortably lost”. Did you enjoy the sensation?

Answer – trade off e.g. Safety versus excitement

Health versus adventure

Travel to an unfamiliar area, was an enjoyable experience, meeting new people different cultures, taking snap shoots and video of the area.

6/ If you couldn’t hold back the urge to write on the “don’t write on this page” page what would you write?

Answer – nothing, for I would probable draw a picture of something

CHAPTER 6

THE LAWS OF SIMPLICITY

Quote

There is complexity in nature, observation is the tool to see what is going on, do not black box everything around, step back in the complexity, zoom in on simple details that matter most, right balance, personal experience, then the true value of the untainted forest suddenly vanishes.

When secure in the rhythm of life you are free to get lost, a map may not be required.

Comment

With machinery the same applies, once familiar, one can pick up and operate with out a manual, until that occurs a manual comes in handy, being not lost with familiar items needs instruction, other wise those that try remain lost
